This section provides specific instructions for setting up new PCs for the Overture project. Please follow these steps carefully after receiving your new device.
Setup Overview
The setup process includes configuring your device name, enrolling in management systems, and ensuring all updates are installed. This typically takes 30-60 minutes depending on your internet connection and the number of updates available.
Step-by-Step Setup Instructions
1. Sign In with Your Work Account
- When you first power on your new PC, you will be prompted to sign in
- Use your work email address
- Enter your password when prompted
2. Complete Windows Installation
After the initial setup and restart, ensure the following tasks are completed:
a) Install All Available Windows Updates
Keeping your system updated is crucial for security and performance:
- Open Settings > Windows Update
- Click Check for updates
- Download and install all available updates
- Restart your computer if required
- Repeat until no more updates are available
Note: This process may take 30 minutes or longer depending on the number of updates. The computer may restart several times.
